Backyard Breeder Advertisements!
It is imperative to address the pressing issues of puppy mills, backyard breeders, and puppy scams by closing loopholes in existing regulations to prevent crimes against animals and people.
The solution to this pervasive problem lies in eliminating the profit motive. Enforcing a new law that mandates detailed registration with strict accountability prior to offering pets for sale can effectively shut down backyard breeding, scams, and puppy mills. Puppy mills, dog brokers, backyard breeders, and scammers all brazenly operate outside the bounds of current laws, which are nearly impossible to enforce.
The proposed law ensures that no ads offering animals for sale in any form can be ACCEPTED without a verifiable detailed registration and sales tax number. Penalties for accepting unregistered ads eliminate the impossible task of identifying millions of underground economy operators.
Will they comply with tax, detailed registration and regulations? The resounding answer is NO. And that's acceptable! They will no longer be able to advertise.
It is essential to trust that law-abiding publications and websites will comply.
By removing profits, a domino effect is created:
NO SALES TAX NUMBER & REGISTRATION = NO ADS
NO ADS = NO SALES AND NO PROFITS:
It's time for backyard breeders to find legitimate work.
Advertising registration would mandate photo ID, physical location, puppy place of birth, and other abuse or fraud prevention data. Every ad must include proper registration and a corresponding sales tax number with the advertiser's name, address, and phone number.
